It was the next-to-last last at RS:X World Championship. And following two races for the Gold fleets, the silver sleets got their scope to improve spots for the last day. They finished their 3 races and after that the Gold fleets came back and completed their 3rd race for this day.
Everything is possible for the final day that will take place tomorrow with one race left in the schedule for all – the last race for all others who did not get to the first 10, and the Medal Race for Top-10 Men and Women.
With 10 races finished, Piotr Myszka (POL) has won Men’s World title in advance of Medal race. His Polish mate Malgorzata Bialecka holds an eleven point lead in Women’s fleet.
Meanwhile, after 4 races in magnificent conditions, only 1 point separates the top couple of boats at the J/70 Midwinter Championship arranged by the St Petersburg Yacht Club. Dazzler of Arnold of Allan Terhune, tallied 1,3,7,1 for twelve points, only a notch ahead of Texas team of Glenn Darden as well as Reese Hillard on Hoss who registered 3,6,2,2). Sea Bags Sailing Team of Will Welles from Portsmouth, RI locked in a great day to round out the Top-3 with nineteen points.
Under crystal clear skies, forty-six teams from the United States, Finland and Brazil took to the waters of Tampa Bay in breezes of 10 to 12 knots with gusts to fifteen. The opening race was dazzled by Terhune, trailed by Geoff Becker and the Darden/Hillard squad.
